The 6th African IEOM Conference Rabat, Morocco

It was a wonderful opportunity to serve as the keynote speaker at the 6th African International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, held at INPT in Rabat, Morocco. Over two enriching days, organized by IEOM - partnered by BESTIU , I had the privilege of engaging with professors, experts, and practitioners from across the region—exchanging insights, sharing perspectives, and exploring ideas that transcend borders.
My keynote focused on Sustainability and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education. I emphasized the need for Today’s universities to evolve—not just to produce graduates, but to become dynamic hubs of innovation, cultivating change-makers, problem-solvers, and leaders of tomorrow.
We are living at the intersection of two urgent global imperatives:
- The need for sustainable development and
- The demand for innovation-driven growth.
Higher education stands at the crossroads of these challenges with immense potential to influence both.
Entrepreneurship, once confined to business schools and startup incubators, must now be recognized as a mindset—one that fosters creative thinking, problem-solving, and purposeful value creation. When this mindset is rooted in sustainability, it becomes a powerful, transformative force.
We start to witness:
-ventures driven not just by profit, but by purpose;
-startups that regenerate ecosystems rather than deplete them;
-innovations that restore equilibrium rather than disrupt it.
This is the future that Higher Education Institutions must nurture—where education, entrepreneurship, and sustainability come together to shape a more equitable and resilient world.
