The advancements in technology have always changed the world in many ways. The change has never been so intense and fast in the past. Most technologies are useful and have made our life easier , they eliminate the boundaries of time and space. Machines, computers, tablets, smart phones, airplanes, televisions, missiles, rockets, air conditioners etc have always served to make the world a smaller sphere.
Now if we come to it’s effects , it’s actually balanced ! both positive and negative , like it is with everything else…
The transportation is much easier than ever before, With modern gadgets business is very easy. Electronic fund transfer methods and e-wallets have made the transaction of money easier for all. The Internet has made it possible for people to look up information on any topic instantaneously. The medical surgeries have reached new heights.
Negative impact is no less. People are becoming lazier and less creative. Addiction to gadgets is leading to new psychic problems. Anxiety disorders, eyesight issues and heart problems are on the rise. Mobile phones and laptops are a huge distraction to the students. Social networking is creating communication gaps, generation gaps, divorces and rifts. The unfit content full of violence and inappropriate activities are available freely causing irreparable damage to the thinking of young minds.Cyber crimes are at an all time high.
Technology being value neutral is an ever progressing branch. Science advances to remove the demerits of gadgets, but in the process with development , destruction is inevitable. Technologies have worked well in reducing the world into a global village helping people overcome cultural, racial and continental barriers.
Technology should be appreciated, but we need to use it cautiously. That way, we can ensure sustainability that doesn’t harm our health, or that of future generations.
Knowing the possible negative effects can help us take steps to identify and minimize these.
It is this knowing which is important and relevant. It calls for wisdom, good education, upbringing, good human qualities, and sharing and caring attitude in all of us. With all these in place and use of new technologies the world will always be a good place to live in. We all need to be vigilant, responsible and responsive.
