Innovation Principles and Training Pedagogy

Innovative Pedagogy as a practice and science has a responsibility of preparing citizens of the knowledge society to be creative, face changes, manage and analyse information, and work with knowledge. Worldwide teachers have to adapt their instructional practices and educational systems to be more effective. The role of teachers has changes from being a subject matter expert to a facilitator of student learning in the knowledge society. The university is determined to promote active research across different disciplines. It has launched higher research degree programs, and established collaborating links with well-known institutions in India and abroad for promoting action oriented research. The University has established State-of-the-art laboratories, innovation labs, Demo units, Incubation Cell and is acquiring requisite resources and manpower for the purpose. The education here is job oriented and students are exposed to several entrepreneurship /incubator options. In the twenty-first century, significant changes are occurring related to new scientific discoveries, informatization, globalization, the development of astronautics, robotics, and artificial intelligence. This century is called the age of digital technologies and knowledge. Hence continuous efforts for innovation and training pedagogy are needed.

Application Oriented Learning

Application-oriented learners view learning as acquiring knowledge that can be used by means of concretising and applying. People process learning input by relating theory and practical experiences. Action-oriented Learning (AOL) is a kind of approach that students lead by lecturers to learn in a team in order to achieve common goal in practical situations. It is one of the distinctive features, characterizing education. All courses are designed and delivered to relate theoretical concepts to real time situations so that the academics blend perfectly with the vocational. The system of academic delivery ensures that students get application oriented, industry, and need based practical education. This fills the basic gap between the current times’ theoretical education and the industry demands. Our labs provide conducive learning environments for students to work individually or collaboratively on entrepreneurial, STEM, STEAM, and Design Thinking projects. We provide programs and pedagogy that together with the new learning environments develop a culture of self-directed learners. Value-based education aims at training the student to face the outer world with the right attitude and values. It is a process of overall personality development of a student. It includes character development, personality development, citizenship development, and spiritual development. Good education can bring about a radical change in the personality of a student with many benefits. The students become more responsible for their behaviour with teachers and fellow students. The students become regular with their home works and class works. They learn to cooperate with the teachers and fellow students in every situation. They learn to become attentive and handle every situation with maturity. They take their own decision without any hesitation. It develops a positive mind and a good attitude in them. Skilling

University lays emphasis on life skills and professional skills at all levels so as to facilitate employability and entrepreneurship. All programs of Central and State Governments are realigned to optimize the benefits. In today’s knowledge economy, people expect change over the course of their careers. More than 90 percent of millennials plan to stay in their jobs less than three years. They’ll spiral between work and learning, sometimes blurring the lines between both. As they continue to build foundational knowledge throughout their lifetimes, they’ll add job-specific skills along the way, getting a certificate in data analytics one year and sprinkling in some coding classes the next.

Setting up Incubators

Incubators function as the entrepreneurs classrooms, we emphasize on academic incubators that help establish idea exchange on campus. Millennial university students have to be trained for more than academic degrees, they have to be trained to be an entrepreneur, ideate, launch businesses, develop new products and start social movements.
The educational system should create a favourable environment that enables young people to develop their mind-set from employees to employers, and to prepare them to improve skills and knowledge to create jobs. In Business Incubation the research outcomes are linked with the industry and development. This relationship between these entities will provide success to its stakeholders.
Many incubators are supported by universities. Others are making initiatives to link up with universities and higher education institutions to get the revenues and returns from its academic nature.

Applied Research

Applied research is designed to answer specific questions aimed at solving practical problems. New knowledge acquired from applied research has specific commercial objectives in the form of products, procedures or services. Fundamental research answers the initial question of how things work. This fundamental knowledge is then used by applied scientists and engineers.

University Social responsibility (USR)

The university social responsibility (USR) is the capacity of higher education institutions (HEIs) to disseminate and implement a set of principles, general and specific values aimed at enhancing the educational and social challenges of the society through key processes: management, teaching, research and extension. BESTIU wishes to discharge its USR in an effective manner.
