Brain Drain, mostly referred as Human capital Flight means the migration of talented, trained and technically skilled persons like doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers and technicians from their home country to another foreign country. It happens for higher remuneration and better working conditions. Developed countries attract such people by paying higher salaries and using their skills for development.
Living in your nation or not is completely a choice of individual and we cannot do much about the individual choice. But at the same breath, retaining the intellectuals is create equal opportunities and employment in one’s own country to prove themselves. India has a large pool of scientific and technical manpower. They migrate to countries wherever they find better opportunities. Brain Drain harms the country growth badly by depleting the supply of creative minds and intellectual people from the society.
Population dividend, our nation being the youngest in the world has to be reaped by devising innovative policies that generate more employment opportunities for all. There is always a vacuum when in an alien nation, also Different cultures create conflict in education and upbringing of children.
So the role of Governments become important in accelerating opportunities.
Also a larger role can be played by Universities and institutions who can engineer students in the right direction and show possibilities through innovation and inclusion.
The earlier it happens the better it is for the generations to come.
